Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Full Time Staff Nurse for Northern State Prison located in Newark, NJ. The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

The position involves assessments, direct and indirect nursing care, collaboration with health care professionals and security staff, and leadership responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with a license to practice in New Jersey.
• Current RN license in New Jersey.
• CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of inmates.
• Performs assessments in initial intake, health care unit, emergencies, and clinics.
• Collaborates with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional setting.
• Identifies patient goals and nursing objectives and implements interventions.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties and guides care delivery.

Education
