Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for Northern State Prison located in Newark, NJ. The Staff Nurse uses the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.

You will perform assessments, provide direct nursing care, collaborate with health care professionals and security staff, and lead nursing activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• License to practice in the State of New Jersey.
• CPR Certification required.
• Valid Driver’s License is required. Must possess own vehicle or alternative means of transportation from one site to another.

Responsabilités

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of residents within the correctional system.
• Performs assessments of residents in various settings including intake, health care unit, sick calls, emergencies and infirmary.
• Works with health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
• Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions.
• Plans nursing care by identifying resident-patient needs based on assessments and initiates appropriate nursing care.
• As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties to other health care team members and guides the provision of care.
