Job Description

Is the second working level of the engineering series. Incumbents perform moderate to complex engineering tasks with limited supervision and lead routine engineering projects. This role has no direct reports.

Responsibilities
  • Align with and actively support Amcor values by putting safety first in all situations.
  • Serve as a role model by ensuring all project work is completed in accordance with safety policies.
  • Determine customers’ needs by identifying problems and safety concerns. Develop and evaluate solutions to define project scope.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and/or assemble the engineering package/project documentation for each assigned project.
  • Interface with people, departments, and/or companies to ensure that equipment is safe, made on schedule and to specification.
  • Provide purchasing services for project materials, including reviewing potential vendors, coordinating with Purchasing, issuing purchase orders, negotiating prices, and expediting delivery.
  • Manage project costs, schedule, and communicate pertinent data to appropriate areas.
  • Complete Project Closeout and Postmortem Analysis for appropriate projects.
  • Actively participate on continuous improvement / Kaizen teams and lead teams as requested.
  • Secure and maintain knowledge of current industry practices as they may apply to Amcor products and equipment.
  • Assist with installation, checkout, start-up and training as necessary.
  • Support projects and initiatives in designated technical area of expertise; understand engineering function as a whole.
  • Utilize communication skills to effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Set personal and team goals with strategic direction; initiate, support, and implement a cross‑section of projects.
  • Develop and implement solutions when chosen actions are ineffective; try different approaches.
  • Utilize consistent methodologies to manage projects and project spend; understand differences in final project savings.
  • Controls: Create, plan, and configure programming, integration, networking and communication services using equipment and software from various HMI, SCADA, PLC manufacturers and protocols.
  • Perform testing and validation of machine instrumentation with the controls package.
  • Foster integration and development of team IT resources related to engineering functions.
  • Create and review technologies for future applications and extensions of current architecture.
  • Electrical: Create and plan designs for electrical machine systems.
  • Perform testing and validation of electrical machine designs and systems.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design and electrical engineering work.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Automation: Assist in investigations and concepts of new automation solutions to solve manufacturing issues.
  • Develop test plans to burndown risk for automation projects and set requirements for FATs and SATs.
  • Perform testing and validation of small‑scale automation systems.
  • Review technical drawings, plans, proposals, RFQs, RFQ responses, and specifications for small‑scale automation work.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Electrical, Mechanical, CS&E, Controls/Automation Engineering or related technical field.
  • 3 – 6 years of experience.
  • 30% travel requirement.
