Job summary

Job description

Overview

Electrical Engineer II is the second level in the engineering series. This role provides electrical engineering support for production operations and the continuous improvement of machine and equipment controls.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an electrical engineering resource to assist Maintenance Technicians in troubleshooting machine control problems when additional resources, skills, or knowledge are required.
  • Collaborate with external technical resources to problem solve and implement solutions.
  • Develop training documentation of solutions and safe procedures for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Manage machine and equipment upgrade projects including investigations, cost estimates, installations, and start-up, including both expense-type and capital upgrades.
  • Learn new capital equipment operation, controls structure/design, and hardware to support effective maintenance.
  • Assist Project Engineering with equipment installation, checkout, start-up, and training as necessary.
  • Ensure knowledge of current industry practices for safe work and safe equipment operation (e.g., National and State Electrical codes, NFPA70E).
  • Verify and oversee preventative maintenance on electrical substations and high voltage switchgear, including documentation of observations, testing, and follow-up actions.
  • Participate as a team member on equipment project teams, safety teams, and continuous improvement teams to improve operations (safety, quality, service, and costs).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 2–5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment or similar field.
  • Electrical Code training or other safety training seminars and courses.
  • Project management experience or ability to manage projects, solve problems, and troubleshoot.
  • CAD skills are required.
  • Knowledge of plant power distribution, control systems, and PLCs preferred.
  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings and develop/use charts and schedules.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to interact with plant personnel at all levels.
  • General training or understanding of industry safety work practices.
