HMH is seeking an Corporate Development Intern in Houston for a 12-week program (May 2027 start). You will support growth strategies through market research, financial analysis, and deal screening to inform senior leadership decisions.

You will build financial models, assist due diligence, and help with integration planning while collaborating with global teams. Ideal candidates are pursuing a business degree, have strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, and are eager to learn in a dynamic

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree in business-related field; finance/economics a plus.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 with Junior/Senior or MBA status.
  • Professional communication with senior management and global teams.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Multilingual a plus; ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in M&A, strategy or energy industry is a plus.
  • Experience with financial data tools (Capital IQ, Bloomberg) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, industry, and competitive research to support strategic decisions and deal sourcing.
  • Identify and evaluate potential acquisition targets and growth opportunities.
  • Build and analyze financial models and business cases.
  • Support valuation, due diligence, and transaction execution activities.
  • Prepare presentations and analyses for senior management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on integration planning and strategic projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Corporate Development Intern will support HMH's growth strategy through mergers & acquisitions, market analysis, and strategic initiatives. This role offers hands‑on experience in financial analysis, valuation, industry research, acquisition screening, and integration planning.

Skills / Requirements
  • Currently enrolled and working toward completion of Bachelor or Graduate degree in business‑related field; finance or economics a plus
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 with a Junior/Senior or MBA status
  • Ability to communicate professionally and interact at a high level with senior management and with a global multi-cultural team based in various countries around the world
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Multilingual a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated interest in Mergers & Acquisitions, Strategy and/or Energy Industry is a plus
  • Experience with financial research tools (Capital IQ, Bloomberg, etc.) is a plus
