Job summary

TEC Equipment is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead day-to-day accounting, close cycles, and financial reporting at our Portland HQ. This senior role partners with the CFO and operating leaders to drive disciplined financial management across multiple business units, including inventory, audit readiness, and strategic cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Minimum 10+ years progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in controller/senior leadership roles.
• Experience leading through ERP implementations and system transitions.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, close cycles, controls, and audit processes.
• Experience managing large teams (20+) and partnering with CFO/ELT.
• Comfortable in a family-owned business governance environment.
• Ability to translate financial results into operational insights and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day accounting operations across the consolidated structure, including GL, Fixed Asset, Inventory, Payroll, and AP/AR.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles and drive improvements for scale.
• Provide high-quality financial services to internal/external stakeholders and partner across the enterprise.
• Own reserve analysis and ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and documentation to support clean audits.
• Lead external annual audit process and maintain relationships with the audit firm.
• Own external financial reporting and develop reporting formats for leadership and lenders.
• Drive internal financial reporting aligned with operational needs and strategic goals.
• Manage inventory accounting across vehicle sales, parts, trailer sales, and rentals.
• Partner with CFO on cash forecasting and covenant forecasting for lenders.
• Oversee ERP implementation through go-live and stabilization period.
