Position Summary
The Copy Repair Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of multifunction copiers, printers, scanners, and related office imaging equipment. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, high-quality document production, and excellent customer service through preventative maintenance, technical diagnostics, and timely repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain copiers, multifunction printers (MFPs), scanners, and related imaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, network, and software-related issues.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Troubleshoot print quality issues such as streaking, ghosting, image defects, paper jams, and toner problems.
- Replace and calibrate components including drums, fusers, transfer belts, rollers, sensors, and imaging units.
- Install firmware updates and software patches.
- Configure network printing, scanning, and user authentication settings.
- Respond to service calls and resolve equipment issues within established service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and parts usage logs.
- Manage inventory of service parts, toner, and maintenance supplies.
- Train end users on proper equipment operation and routine maintenance procedures.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior technicians or manufacturer support as required.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and manufacturer specifications.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical training in electronics, computer systems, networking, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience servicing copiers, printers, MFPs, or related office technology equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Basic understanding of computer networking and operating systems.
- Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of copier imaging processes and print engine operations.
- Understanding of networking protocols, print drivers, and scan-to-email functionality.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced field service environment.
- Proficiency with mobile service applications and maintenance management systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to distinguish image quality defects and color variations.
Working Conditions
- Frequent travel to customer locations.
