Job summary

Rio Tinto in Utah is seeking a Superintendent Hot Metals Operations to lead the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Hot Metals area at our Kennecott operation just outside Salt Lake City. You will guide supervisors and frontline staff in a 24/7 environment, driving performance across safety, production, quality, cost and operational excellence.

The role reports to the Manager, Smelter Operations and requires experience in complex, safety-critical settings with a strong focus on

Qualifications

• Experience leading supervisors and frontline teams in a complex, safety-critical environment.
• Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes, production systems and copper smelting/refining.
• Proven track record in safety, reliability, productivity and cost performance.
• Experience in unionized or large-scale industrial operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Hot Metals area.
• Provide direction to supervisors and front-line staff in 24/7 operations.
• Drive safety, production, quality, cost and operational excellence.
• Ensure environmental, safety and operating standards are met.
• Lead workforce development, coaching, succession planning, performance management.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Technical, Reliability and Support Services.
• Champion continuous improvement and problem-solving.
