Job summary

Arizona State University seeks an Outreach Analyst 2 to support the Academic Support Network (ASN) at the Tempe campus. You will supervise student staff, hire/train/evaluate, and help deliver ASN training content.

In collaboration with faculty and staff, you will support OSH deployment, mentor Work+ participants, and coordinate bi-weekly staff meetings and campus events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in the area/field, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising staff including hiring, training, evaluating and scheduling.
  • Experience delivering training and presentations to groups of learners.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Coordinator Senior performs a variety of duties related to the support of the Academic Support Network (ASN) for the Tutoring Centers at the Tempe campus. This position works collaboratively with a cross-campus workgroup and campus-specific team to provide direct supervision to assigned student staff including but not limited to, hiring, training, and evaluating student staff and managing schedules. This position will also assist in the delivery of training content for ASN’s student staff. This position will supervise assigned professional staff and student staff for the program. This position works closely with supporting University faculty and staff in regards to the Subject Area Tutoring program. This position is also responsible for assisting in the deployment of ASN’s Online Study Hub (OSH) learning support model. The position will support student staff involvement in ASN's OSH platform. This position participates in Work+ training for professional staff, mentors ASN’s working learners in Work+, and assists in the evaluation of ASN’s working learners according to Work+ guidelines. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Subject Area Tutoring Center Program Manager. University College (UC) values the employee experience; as a result, UC will engage employees in active collaboration to discuss the design of work, work spaces, and tools to improve the quality of their own workspaces.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, and evaluating staff, including student and professional staff
  • Works in a shared supervision model to manage the supervision and day-to-day functions of the Tempe Tutoring Centers which includes but is not limited to:
    • Training new and current student staff
    • Creating and managing student staff schedules
    • Evaluating student staff performance and providing feedback
    • Helping to resolve issues amongst student staff and/or users
    • Assisting with the scheduling and presentation of student employee training, meetings, and workshops
    • Supporting University College’s Work+ by engaging in all aspects of the designed program including, but not limited to mentorship, reflective practices, professional development and evaluation of working learners, and use of digital portfolios
    • Monitoring and assessing staff through one-on-one meetings and provides staff with direction and strategies in how to become more effective in their position
  • Helps to monitor the University College Design and Learn Commons space
  • Works collaboratively with the Supplemental Instruction and Lead Tutor professional staff to support student needs.
  • Participates in the design process to design services to support learners at scale using design thinking, analytics, automation, and intelligent systems
  • Contributes to University College initiatives to improve employee engagement in the design of work, workplace, tools, and processes such that we improve the quality of the employee experience and satisfaction with their work
  • Ensures the success of ASN’s OSH academic support model by monitoring student staff participation, providing ongoing feedback, and marketing resources to ASU community
  • Assists with the coordination and presentation of bi-weekly staff meetings and training workshops
  • Assists with coordinating marketing events to promote services
  • Serves on department committee and represents ASU and ASN at events as needed
  • Responds to student questions and concerns.

Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of a degree in STEAM or any other degree program relevant to the area of responsibilities
  • Experience collaborating with faculty, staff, and/or community members
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tutoring principles
  • Experience developing and giving presentations
  • Experience creating and delivering training
  • Experience tutoring, teaching or in a learning center
  • Experience using technology such as Canvas, Zoom, Slack, TracCloud, Google suite, Microsoft Office and/or other web applications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team
Working Environment
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse;
  • required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.
  • Some evenings and occasional weekends may be required based on the needs of the unit.
