Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marketing Manager serves as a strategic marketing partner to academic departments, student support services, administrative offices, and institutional leadership, providing expert consultation, project management, and creative direction for a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives that advance the College's mission, enrollment goals, workforce development efforts, and student success.
Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners, the Marketing Manager leads the planning, development, coordination, and execution of integrated marketing campaigns and communications projects from concept through completion. This position manages multiple concurrent projects while ensuring all marketing materials reflect the College's brand standards, strategic priorities, and commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and excellence.

A significant area of responsibility includes serving as the primary marketing lead for the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE), developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies that promote workforce development programs, professional training, lifelong learning opportunities, community education offerings, and customized business and industry partnerships.
The Marketing Manager must possess exceptional project management, communication, writing, and relationship-building skills, along with understanding and demonstrated ability in basic graphic design, the ability to balance competing priorities, advise internal stakeholders on marketing best practices, and deliver high-quality marketing solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Serve as the primary marketing consultant for academic departments, student support services, administrative offices, and other stakeholders providing strategic guidance on marketing and communications needs.
  • Meet with faculty, staff, administrators, and other stakeholders to assess project goals, identify target audiences, develop marketing strategies, and recommend effective communications approaches.
  • Lead marketing projects from initial consultation through planning, creative development, production, implementation, and post-project evaluation while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working alongside the College's Assistant Director of Visual Communications, provide graphic design support using tools such as Canva or other systems in creating on-brand visual collateral. This includes print and digital communications.
  • Develop integrated marketing campaigns supporting academic programs, enrollment initiatives, student services, special events, community outreach, institutional priorities, and other College initiatives.
  • Write, edit, and coordinate the production of marketing and communications materials across print, digital, environmental, and promotional platforms, ensuring consistency with institutional messaging and brand standards.
  • Serve as the primary marketing manager for the Center for Community and Professional Education (CCAPE), planning and executing marketing strategies that increase awareness and enrollment in workforce training, professional development, continuing education, community education, and corporate partnership programs.
  • Collaborate with members of the Strategic Communications and Marketing Office to coordinate photography, videography, graphic design, digital communications, advertising, media relations, and other creative services necessary to support marketing initiatives.
  • Develop project timelines, establish priorities, coordinate production schedules, and ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and within established deadlines.
  • Maintain strong working relationships across the College by providing responsive, consultative customer service while balancing institutional priorities and departmental needs.
  • Ensure all marketing materials adhere to College brand standards, editorial guidelines, accessibility requirements, and institutional messaging.
  • Coordinate with external vendor and other service providers as needed to support marketing projects and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing initiatives using available data and stakeholder feedback, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with higher education marketing trends, communications strategies, emerging technologies, and best practices to strengthen the College's marketing efforts.
  • Work actively with all areas of the College to foster collaboration, collegiality, innovation, and exceptional service.
  • Provide flexible, responsive, and high-quality service to students, faculty, staff, community members, and external partners while continuously evaluating and improving marketing processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, advertising, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple complex marketing projects from concept through implementation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, editing, and presentation skills with the ability to tailor communications for diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing integrated marketing campaigns across print and digital platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with individuals across all levels of an organization.
  • Knowledge of branding principles, marketing strategy, audience segmentation, and communications planning.
  • Experience working with creative professionals, vendors, and production partners.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of a comprehensive community college.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in higher education marketing or communications.
  • Experience marketing higher and/or continuing education/professional training programs.
  • Familiarity with project management software and collaborative workflow systems.
  • Experience managing print production and vendor relationships.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, content management systems, digital marketing platforms, and modern design tools such as Canva.
  • Experience interpreting marketing analytics and campaign performance metrics.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION: Full-time, Non-Unit Professional Position. Annual Salary range of $75,000.00 - $85,000.00, dependent on qualifications. Includes participation in a comprehensive employee benefits program and the option for membership in the Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System.
