Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking a Coordinator III, Disability Services to oversee daily operations and act as SME for disability accommodations. You will coordinate schedules, assistive technologies, and staff while upholding confidentiality and compliance with ADA and Title IX.

Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Disability Services facilitates daily operations within the Disability Services department. Responsible for coordination of support functions such as scheduling tasks related to notetakers, scribes, and reader assignments, communications, workflows, supplies, information processing, and staff support within Disability Services as well as within I-Star and Virtual Student Accommodations Center (VSAC). May be responsible for coordinating budget planning process and for tracking and coordinating budget expenditures. Makes and communicates process decisions based on best practices. May work closely with LSC Faculty, staff, and students receiving disability services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations of Disability Services. Actively maintains up-to-date knowledge of area and acts as a Subject Matter Expert within area and as a point of contact and liaison for internal and external constituents
  2. Supervises, trains and develops department staff. Schedules and prioritizes work and activities and develops and organizes training materials
  3. Provides a high level of customer service and communication to Disability Services students and their families starting at the initial contact with Disability Services through completion
  4. Coordinates information processing and support within Disability Services, as well as in I-Star and Virtual Student Accommodations Center (VSAC). Conduct intake interviews, review disability assessments and determine appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities
  5. Coordinates various department and leadership calendars and schedules; Monitor and control resources such as office supplies and equipment needed within the department
  6. Maintains confidentiality of all student records and disability related information, in full compliance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Title IX regulations
  7. Assists with case management and coordination of services for students with disabilities, including supporting the Assistive Technology lab and serving as a scribe, note-taker, or reader as needed
  8. Advise students with disabilities on the accommodation process for testing, for interpreters and assistive technology
  9. Takes part in and/or takes lead on special projects as needed
  10. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152 - $55,374

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
