Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and evaluate Family and Transfer Experiences programming for two student populations.
  • Coordinate Family Weekend and Spring Family Day experiences for thousands of attendees.
  • Support development and implementation of orientation, transition, and retention initiatives.
  • Provide on-site supervision for events ensuring policy compliance and guest satisfaction.
  • Coordinate Transfer Orientation programming in partnership with campus colleagues.
  • Engage families through official channels and develop materials for families and transfer students.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with transfer student success research, communitycollege pipelines, and transfer-specific challenges.
  • General student development theory, with application to familyengagement and student transition programming.

The Coordinator of Family and Transfer Experiences leads, managesprogramming, engagement, and support initiatives for two distinctyet interconnected populations. Parents/family members of new andcontinuing students, incoming, current transfer students at TexasState University.

Job Duties:
Family Program Management:
  • Support and host an educational and engaging experience forover 7,000 new families and 3,000 transfers through New StudentOrientation.
  • Coordinate annual Family Weekend and Spring Family Dayexperiences for over 8,000 individuals to connect families to thelife of the university.
  • Assist with the development and implementation ofdepartment-wide programs including New Student Orientation, Welcomeweek, and other new orientation, transition, and retentioninitiatives.
  • Provide on-site supervision of designated events to oversee useof facilities, compliance with policies, hospitality, andassistance in problem resolution.
Transfer Program Management:
  • Coordinate and implement Transfer Orientation programming forincoming transfer students, in partnership with the AssistantDirector and campus collaborators.
  • Host and execute transfer-specific retention and transitionprogramming across the academic year, informed by transfer studentsuccess research and institutional data.
  • Serve as a programmatic point of contact for transfer studentengagement, connecting students to resources, communities, andbelonging opportunities.
  • Provide on-site supervision of designated events to oversee useof facilities, compliance with policies, hospitality, andassistance in problem resolution.
Constituent Engagement:
  • Support communication and engagement with families throughestablished communication channels including the Bobcat FamilyPortal, social media and webpages.
  • Support project teams consisting of internal and externalstakeholders to host an engaging weekend-long program ofactivities.
  • Develop and execute print and electronic resources to servefamilies and transfer students.
Fiscal Management:
  • Steward revenue accounts totaling over $200,000 and multipleendowed scholarships.
  • Administer scholarship programs and competitions to award over$25,000 of financial resources to current students.
Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Coordinate special projects and other duties as assigned by theDirector of New Student and Family Experiences or designee.
