Job summary

University of Rhode Island is seeking a Coordinator for Campus Recreation/Facilities & Operations, responsible for leading staff and managing day-to-day facility operations across Mackal/Keaney/Tootell Complexes and fitness centers.

Under supervision, the role directs program and event support, facility scheduling, risk management, and collaboration with campus departments to foster engagement and well-being across the URI community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• Minimum of two years of full-time experience in managing a multi-purpose recreational/athletic facility.
• Experience in recreation/athletic facilities scheduling and contracts/invoicing.
• Demonstrated supervisory, training, and strong interpersonal/communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and excellent written communication.
• Experience with risk management and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise, schedule, payroll, and evaluate staff across facilities.
• Coordinate facility rentals, events, and contracts including external groups and university events.
• Collaborate with campus departments and external units for smooth operations and safety.
• Oversee maintenance, custodial, and vendor management, including capital improvements.
• Support Emergency Action Plan training and safety inspections; track incidents.
• Manage inventory, equipment, and access control systems; ensure sustainability practices.
