Cook Lead

With the area’s only Level II Trauma Center, the first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center, and the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley, CHI St. Joseph Health is a leader in critical care and the largest provider of cardiovascular care in the region. As an integrated healthcare system, CHI St. Joseph Health includes a comprehensive network of over 100 employed providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, and advanced practice clinicians. The network features more than 20 ambulatory clinics with primary care, a standalone Emergency Room, Express Clinics, and imaging and diagnostic services.

Responsibilities
  • Leads the preparation of food for patients, staff, and visitors, following safe cooking techniques. Oversees staff to ensure processes and procedures are followed. Prepares food for multiple therapeutic diets, complying with laws and regulations related to food preparation in healthcare. Supports quality control measures such as recipe adherence and food quality consistency.
  • Prepares and serves food within menu and dietary guidelines, using kitchen equipment like slicers, mixers, ovens, stoves, steamers, fryers, and grills. Modifies preparations for food allergies.
  • Ensures food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation are met.
  • Performs cleaning duties to maintain sanitation in cooking and serving areas.
  • Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food, equipment, and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
  • Two years of experience in food services; one year of hospital nutrition experience.
  • Associate's Degree or two years of equivalent education and experience in lieu of degree.
Required Licensure
  • Food Handler Certification from ServSafe or as required by local health code.
  • Certification can be obtained within 30 days of hire or as required by law.
  • ServSafe Texas Food Handler Online Course.
Pay Range

$11.41 - $15.69 per hour
