Overview

Cook Lead

$2,000 Sign-on Bonus

As a Cook Lead, you will lead the preparation of food for patients, staff, and visitors of the healthcare facility following safe cooking techniques and assist in the oversight of staff to ensure that all processes and procedures are being followed.

CHI St. Joseph Health – College Station/Bryan TX has been caring for the communities in Bryan, College Station, Brenham, Hearne, Navasota, Caldwell, Madisonville, and Bellville since 1936. With the area’s only Level II Trauma Center, the first Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center, and the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley, CHI St. Joseph Health is a leader in critical care and the largest provider of cardiovascular care in the region. As an integrated healthcare system, CHI St. Joseph Health includes a comprehensive network of over 100 employed providers including primary care physicians, specialists, and advanced practice clinicians. The network includes more than 20 ambulatory clinics featuring primary care, a freestanding Emergency Room, Express Clinics, and imaging and diagnostic services.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepares food for multiple therapeutic diets and complies with state and federal laws and regulations related to food preparation in a healthcare environment.
  2. Prepares and serves food within guidelines of menu and dietary requirements, using required kitchen utensils and equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens, stove tops, steamers, fryers, and grills.
  3. Champions food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation.
  4. Performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas.
  5. Maintains proper labeling of food products and ensures storage of food equipment and machinery per regulations and facility guidelines.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  1. Four (4) years of experience in food services; two (2) years hospital nutrition experience.
  2. High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licensure:

  1. Food Handler Certification must be from ServSafe, or as required by state or local health code.
  2. Certification can be obtained within 30 days of hire, or as required by state or local health code.
  3. ServSafe Texas Food Handler Online Course.

Pay Range:

$11.41 - $15.69 /hour
