Job summary

HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMISSION in Texas seeks a Food Service Worker II to perform moderately complex food service tasks in the Central Kitchen and satellite serving areas. You will prepare, portion, distribute, and serve meals for regular and therapeutic diets, while upholding sanitation standards and safety procedures.

The role may require weekend/holiday work, training others, and potential shift variations.

Qualifications

Knowledge of food preparation methods, food storage standards, and sanitation regulations.
Ability to prepare and serve food, clean dining and preparation areas, and maintain records.
Ability to read and speak English.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to use basic math used in cooking/preparation.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Attends work on a regular basis and may be assigned to a specific shift or rotating schedule.
Completes required training per policy.
Assists in preparation and portioning of food for special diets following procedures.
Prepares snacks and supplements and maintains stock of snack items.
Distributes food in a safe and sanitary manner per policies.
Assists in serving food by following procedures.
Follows proper food handling in accordance with guidelines.
Receives deliveries of food and supplies as assigned.
Prepares necessary paperwork in a timely and correct manner.
Follows sanitation procedures for cleaning kitchen and equipment.
Trains or assists in training new staff to ensure knowledgeable operation.
Participates in disaster response/COOP or alternative shift/location as needed.
