Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) invites you to join the Food Service team at the Lubbock State Supported Living Center. The Food Service Worker II performs moderately complex duties in the central or satellite kitchens, handling regular and therapeutic diets while ensuring sanitation and safety.

This full-time position requires weekend/holiday availability, potential overtime, and the ability to train others.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food preparation methods and sanitation regulations.
• Ability to speak and read English.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to work in hot/cold conditions.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly on a set or rotating schedule including possible overtime.
• Completes required training per policy.
• Prepares and portions food for regular and special diets.
• Distributes and serves food and maintains supply of snacks.
• Assists in serving and following food service procedures.
• Ensures sanitation of kitchen, stock room and equipment.
• Receives deliveries and completes related paperwork.
• Trains new food service staff as needed.
• Participates in disaster response or COOP activation.
