Job summary

Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital invites applications for a part-time Food Service Worker to assist with meal preparation, including regular and therapeutic diets, and to keep a clean, organized kitchen. No prior experience is required; background is welcomed.

You will operate kitchen equipment, wear PPE as required, and you must be able to lift up to 80 lbs and climb ladders. Rotating weekends/holidays apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• No experience required; food service experience preferred.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear PPE (gowns, gloves, goggles, etc.) as required.
• Adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Physical tasks include lifting 35–80 lbs and standing for long periods.

Overview

Position Details:

Status: Part-time, 24 hours per week.

Schedule: 12:00 PM - 8:30 PM. Rotating weekends and holidays required.

Shift Differentials: Eligible for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Location: IU Health Methodist Hospital

Position Summary:

Performs supervised tasks related to the preparation of food. Meal preparations include regular and therapeutic diets. Utilizes foundational skills of basic cooking techniques, operates kitchen equipment and maintains a clean and organized work space.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
