Job summary

BlueStar Resort & Golf seeks a Cook 1 to join the Food & Beverage team in Peoria, AZ. You will prepare, cook, and serve food, reporting to the Kitchen Manager or Executive Chef, and contribute to guest satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires at least one year of kitchen experience, a valid Food Handlers card, and the ability to read and follow recipes while maintaining safety standards and teamwork in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year cooking experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Current Food Handlers card.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or team members.
• Ability to think, work, solve practical problems, and make independent decisions, based on sound judgment.
• Must demonstrate initiative and accept responsibility for decisions and actions.
• Must be self-motivated, proactive, and a team player.
• Must be able to pay attention to multiple details and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
• This position requires a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Master one kitchen station and take responsibility for personal decisions.
• Ensure superior standards of service meet guest and employee requirements.
• Proactively exceed guest satisfaction and resolve issues as needed.
• Follow cleaning schedule and maintain a sanitary kitchen.
• Read and follow cooking instructions accurately.
• Prepare vegetables and fruit; slice, dice, and prep ingredients.
• Prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles per recipes.
• Cook and finish meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods; manage oven and grill temperatures.
• Carve meats and portion plates; add gravies and garnish servings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
