Job summary

Sodexo is hiring a Cook I at UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS ELYRIA MEDICAL CENTER. You will prepare, portion, cook, and present a range of hot and cold foods across meal periods and events, adhering to Sodexo’s quality standards.

In a fast-paced kitchen, you will ensure safe, accurate, and efficient food preparation, maintaining cleanliness and teamwork while upholding high food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure high-quality food service.
• Follow basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Walk or stand for extended periods of time (may exceed 8 hours).
• Lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Attend shifts on time and perform other duties as needed.
