Job description

Job Summary

The Cook I is responsible for assisting in food preparation for guest dining by performing various duties. This position ensures food quality, appearance, and presentation standards are met while maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and minimizing waste to maximize cost efficiency.

This on-site position has a varying schedule, including days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Typical shifts are from 5:00am to 1:30pm or 12:00pm to 8:30pm.

Starting pay is $20.00/hour.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or GED preferred; experience in a hotel culinary role is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred; Food Handler certification or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work - exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand throughout the shift.
  • Ability to withstand hot and cold temperature variations.
Fundamental Requirements
  • Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests and colleagues.
  • Basic knowledge of batch and banquet production.
  • Basic knife skills for fruits and vegetables.
  • Assist with transportation and plating of banquet food.
  • Perform hot and cold food prep using standardized techniques, assisting Cook II and Supervisors.
  • Work at different action stations.
  • Complete food temperature logs and collect samples.
  • Prepare high-quality food following standardized recipes to meet schedules.
  • Understand basic cooking techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in compliance with health laws.
