Pay Range

This range is provided by Salamander Washington DC. Your actual pay will depend on your skills and experience. Discuss with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $20.00/hr

Position Objective

Seeking a talented Line Cook to join our Culinary Team. Responsibilities include food preparation for various food and beverage operations within the restaurant.

  • Prepare food items using predetermined methods in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Set up stations with required mise en place.
  • Complete storeroom requisitions for needed items.
  • Ensure all equipment (ovens, grills, fryers, salamanders) is ready for use.
  • Check par levels and ensure line readiness for service.
  • Prepare additional items to maintain stock levels.
Requirements

Additional supportive functions may be performed as determined by management:

  • Consult daily with Chef and related departments.
  • Participate in long-term planning.
  • Support ongoing hotel programs and networking improvements.
Education & Experience
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of line cook experience in fine dining required.
Additional Requirements
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to read recipes and follow instructions.
  • Experience creating buffet displays up to 6 feet high.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, stand for 8+ hours, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Skill in using kitchen equipment and demonstrating culinary techniques.
  • Physical ability to handle knives, pots, and other tools safely.
  • Must be able to work in noisy environments and handle physical tasks like bending, reaching, and lifting.
