Job Summary

The Cook I is responsible for assisting workers engaged in preparing foods for guest dining by performing a variety of duties. This position ensures food quality, appearance, and presentation standards are met, while maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and minimizing waste to optimize cost and production efficiency.

This is an on-site position with a flexible schedule that may include days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Starting rate: $20.00/hour.

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or GED preferred; experience in a hotel culinary role is a plus.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience preferred. Food Handler certification or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes.
Physical Requirements
  • Flexible and long hours may be required.
  • Medium work involving exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to stand for entire shift.
  • Ability to withstand temperature variations, hot and cold.
Fundamental Responsibilities
  • Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests and colleagues at all times.
  • Basic knowledge of batch and banquet production.
  • Basic knife skills for fruits and vegetables.
  • Transport and plate banquet food.
  • Perform hot and cold food prep using standardized techniques, assisting Cook II and Supervisors.
  • Work at different action stations as needed.
  • Complete food temperature logs and collect samples.
  • Prepare high-quality food items following standardized recipes to meet schedules.
  • Understand basic cooking techniques.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment following health laws.
