Job description

With nearly 65 years of service, DDI provides a full continuum of care — from early intervention to residential, day habilitation, and vocational programs — for over 1,600 children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. DDI is driven by a dedicated staff and a belief in every individual's potential.

Position: Cook

Salary Range: $18.50/hour - $20.35/hour

What you'll do at DDI:

• Prepare meals, cook, shop, and plan menus in coordination with the Nutritionist.
• Follow all menus and fill in substitutions according to the exchange list; accommodate special diets such as gluten-free, halal, kosher, and individual dietary needs.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, peeling, and cutting meat.
• Measure ingredients as per recipes.
• Maintain accurate food inventories and store unused food properly.
• Report maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to the Manager or Maintenance Personnel.
• Notify supervisors immediately if repairs are needed for the house or appliances.
• Follow OPWDD regulations regarding food safety and kitchen cleanliness.
• Collaborate with the Nutritionist to set up appropriate dietary menus for residents.
• Assist in scheduling and planning parties for special occasions.
• Answer phone calls courteously and professionally, taking appropriate messages.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
