Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard Community Services Command seeks a Cook-05 INT in Yorktown, VA. You will prepare diverse menu items, operate kitchen equipment, and ensure food safety and proper storage while maintaining a clean workstation.

This intermittent position is paid at $21.03/hour with eligibility for standard benefits. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications and obtain a Food Handler's Certificate when required.

Qualifications

• Experience in methods and procedures relating to food preparation, presentation, reading and following recipes.
• Experience following oral and written instructions and performing simple arithmetic.
• Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
• Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.

Responsibilities

• Prepares a variety of menu items and operates kitchen equipment.
• Grills or fries meats and prepares vegetables and desserts as directed.
• Maintains proper food temperatures and stores items properly; keeps work areas clean.
