Job summary

Ridgeview Institute Smyrna is seeking a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team, preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for patients and staff in line with approved menus and production sheets. You will collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely service, maintain high standards of food safety, and present dishes with care while following recipes and quality controls.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least two years of experience in quantity cooking.
  • Basic knowledge of modified diets.
  • Training in food service sanitation and possession of a food handler’s permit as required.
  • Experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and some prior kitchen supervisory experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient food preparation during service.
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh.
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.
  • Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods.
  • Present, garnish, and arrange final dishes.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Execute opening and closing procedures.
  • Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment.
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients.
  • Monitor station inventory levels.

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals for patients and facility staff according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets.

  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure timely and efficient food preparation during service.
  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods
  • Present, garnish, and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes.
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Set up workstations with the required ingredients and equipment
  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
  • Monitor station inventory levels
  • Be able to adapt to high-pressure situations and busy service periods.
Your Experience Matters What We’re Looking For
  • Education/Experience: Must have at least two (2) years of experience in quantity cooking, a basic knowledge of modified diets; training in food service sanitation and possession of a food service food handler’s permit as required; experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils; and some prior kitchen supervisory experience is helpful.
  • Additional Skills
    • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques.
    • Attention to detail in presentation, flavor, and consistency.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented kitchen.
    • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Compensation
