Job summary

Vitality Living is hiring a Cook at our Appletree Court Assisted Living Community in Richardson, AL. You will prepare nutritious meals, follow menus, and maintain food safety and sanitation standards in a busy kitchen.

You should have at least two years of institutional or full-service restaurant cooking experience, be fluent in English, and hold a valid food handler permit. This full-time role offers competitive benefits and opportunities to contribute to resident well-being.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Maintain food handlers permit and other certifications as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and daily production records for instructions.
• Prepare nutritious, appetizing meals per company menus.
• Adhere to proper procedures for labeling and storing food.
• Clean kitchen after meals per cleaning schedule.
• Attend onboarding and training sessions and team meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef.

As a Vitality Living Cook, you will impact lives by:

• Review of menus and Daily Food Production Records for instructions
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and attractive according to company menus
• Adhere to proper procedures for covering, dating, labeling, and storing food promptly
• Clean kitchen after meals according to cleaning schedule, including preparation and service areas, pots and pans, kitchen surfaces, walls, and floors
• Attend and participate in onboarding and annual training, in-services, and team member meetings as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Have two years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Maintain food handlers permit and any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations
• Understand food safety procedures (e.g. temperature safety), sanitation of equipment measures, and storage techniques
• Meet state of provincial health-related requirements
