Job summary

Vitality Living in Woodbridge, VA is seeking a Cook for the Acclaim at Belmont Bay Community to prepare nutritious, appetizing meals and follow menu guidance. You will review menus, maintain food safety, label and store correctly, clean kitchen after service, and participate in onboarding and trainings.

Qualifications

• Two years of institutional or full-service restaurant cooking experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Maintain a food handlers permit and any other certifications as required by regulations.
• Understand food safety procedures, sanitation, and storage techniques.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and Daily Food Production Records for instructions.
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, appetizing, and attractive according to menus.
• Adhere to procedures for covering, dating, labeling, and storing food promptly.
• Clean kitchen after meals according to schedule and maintain prep/service areas, pots, pans, surfaces, walls and floors.
• Attend onboarding, training, in-services, and team meetings as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef.

As a Vitality Living Cook, you will impact lives by:

• Review of menus and Daily Food Production Records for instructions

• Adhere to proper procedures for covering, dating, labeling, and storing food promptly
• Clean kitchen after meals according to cleaning schedule, including preparation and service areas, pots and pans, kitchen surfaces, walls, and floors
• Attend and participate in onboarding and annual training, in-services, and team member meetings as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Services Director or Sous Chef

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Have two years of experience in institutional or full-service restaurant cooking
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Maintain food handlers permit and any other certifications as required by state or provincial regulations
• Understand food safety procedures (e.g. temperature safety), sanitation of equipment measures, and storage techniques
• Meet state of provincial health-related requirements
