Job summary

WESTCARE FOUNDATION INC. seeks a qualified kitchen support staff member to prepare meals according to approved menus and schedules in a hospital-like setting.

The role requires at least 1 year of institutional food service, a Food Handler certification or ability to obtain it within 90 days, and a team-oriented approach with strong communication. Flexibility for evenings/weekends is needed, with basic computer skills for documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old per West Virginia state regulations.
• Minimum 1 year experience in institutional food service.
• Certified Food Handler Certification or ability to acquire within 90 days.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate a computer and complete documents in Microsoft Word formats.
• Ability to respond to crisis situations efficiently.
• Ability to follow directives and complete tasks within scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all meals in accordance with approved menus and mealtime schedules.
• Record client/staff meal census.
• Maintain health department standards and sanitation, including gloves/hairnets/caps at all times.
• Prepare requisitions for food and store deliveries.
• Receive and store deliveries properly.
• Ensure equipment is in good operating condition and temperatures are safe.
• Label and store leftovers per safe handling requirements.
• Complete documentation on provided forms; collaborate with staff as needed.
