Job summary

The Village of St. Edward is seeking a dedicated Cook to join the Assisted Living dining team. You will handle all aspects of food preparation, from planning and prep to cooking, baking, slicing and roasting, following state regulations and serving residents as needed.

Qualifications

• High School education or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of cooking experience.
• Experience in a nursing home/hospital setting preferred.
• Servsafe certification or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals from scratch and manage all aspects of food preparation (prep, cooking, baking, slicing, roasting) in accordance with state regulations.
• Keep accurate inventory and assist with serving residents as needed.
• Follow food safety and sanitation protocols and maintain kitchen cleanliness.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

In accordance with the mission and values of The Village of St. Edward, the Cook is responsible for all aspects of food preparation including; prep, cooking, baking, slicing, roasting, etc. in accordance with state regulations. Will prepare meals from scratch and keep accurate inventory control. May serve to the residents to meet operational needs.

Requirements:

• High School education or equivalent
• One (1) year of experience cooking
• One (1) year experience in Nursing Home/Hospital type setting as a cook preferred
• Servsafe required or paid training to obtain within 3 months of hire
• Must have reliable transportation
• Able to comprehend written and verbal instructions.
• Able to perform basic math calculations, i.e. weights, temperatures, fractions, measurements, etc.
• Able to measure solids and liquids according to recipe specifications.
