Job summary

Fellowship Square invites applications for a Café Cook to support our Garden Café and takeout operations. You will prepare meals per standardized recipes, assist in daily menu execution, and help ensure high-quality service for residents.

The role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and timely communication with the Chef/Manager. You should be able to work as part of a team, follow training, and be willing to perform other kitchen tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a food handler’s card or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Two years of kitchen experience desirable but not required based on experience level.
• Ability to read and follow recipes, and adjust as needed.
• Proficiency in English reading and comprehension.

Responsibilities

• Prepare foods according to prescribed sanitation standards.
• Make daily specials, entrees and sides for lunch.
• Follow planned menus and standardized recipes with correct portion sizes.
• Communicate changes needed in food preparation to Chef/Manager.
• Maintain sanitation and safety of the kitchen area.
• Record and monitor food temperatures at each meal.

Job description

Fellowship Square is looking for a skilled and passionate Cafe Cook to join our culinary team and help provide exceptional dining experiences for our residents.
The purpose of this position is to prepare food in the Garden Café and FS takeout and serve quality items on the daily menu in accordance with federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, as well as our established policies and procedures as may be directed by the Chef/Manager or his/her designee to assure quality food service is provided at all times.

• Ability to communicate with supervisor.
• Ability to supervise other kitchen staff in the absence of the supervisor.
• Ability to understand and complete on-the-job training.
• Ability to follow regulations for safe handling of food and service items.
• Prepare foods according to prescribed sanitation standards.
• Prepares specials of the day, entrees and side dishes for lunch.
• Prepares food indicated on planned menus, following standardized recipes, using standard portion sizes, and making substitutions only with prior approval.
• Communicate with Chef/Manager about any changes necessary in food preparation.
• Prepares other foods deemed by Chef/Manager as necessary.
• Checks and records food temperatures at each meal and tastes food for palatability.
• Ability to move meat from the freezer three (3) days prior to use and place them in the walk-in.
• Ability to put away food deliveries as they come in and keep walk-in-box clean.
• Ability to maintain general sanitation and safety of working area.
• Ability to keep temperature log of all refrigerators and freezer.
• Ability to report all hazardous conditions/equipment to Chef/Manager immediatel
• Ability to use equipment and materials carefully, and in safe manner, following correct operation and cleaning procedure
• Ability to participate and assist in departmental projects as assigned or that may become necessary.
• Communicates with Chef/Manager all resident requests and complaints.
• Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
