Job summary

Cottages at Belleair is seeking a Cook to join our Culinary department. You will design nutritious menus for seniors, prepare and present meals, and collaborate with dietary staff to meet dietary restrictions.

The role emphasizes food safety, quality, and variety in daily offerings. Ideal candidates have proven cooking experience in senior living or healthcare settings, strong culinary skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen with high-volume production.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a Cook to join our Culinary department!

As a Cook, you will play a pivotal role in creating a delightful culinary experience for our residents. Your culinary expertise, creativity, and dedication to quality will contribute to the overall satisfaction and well-being of our residents.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan nutritious and well-balanced menus suitable for senior residents, considering their dietary needs and preferences.
  • Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, ensuring high quality and presentation standards.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavors.
  • Innovate and create new dishes to provide variety and excitement for our residents.
  • Collaborate with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to ensure meals meet specific dietary restrictions, including low sodium, diabetic-friendly, and modified textures as required.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines. Ensure proper storage, handling, and preparation of food items. Monitor and record food temperatures regularly.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to pass drug screening
  • Proven experience as a cook in a similar culinary environment, preferably within a senior living community or healthcare setting.
  • Excellent culinary skills with the ability to create and prepare high-quality meals.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Experience in volume-batch cooking.
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware.
  • High School diploma or equivalent: A diploma from a culinary school will be an advantage.
Wage:
  • $16.00 - $18.00 (Based on experience)
