The Bungalows at Springdale is seeking Cooks to join their team!

The Cook reports directly to the Food and Beverage Director.

Part-time only - 16 hours

PURPOSE

Cook

The Cook is responsible for all food preparation to ensure that food meets or exceeds quality, quantity, and service schedule requirements, as well as hospitality service standards for the community.

Responsible for effectively managing all food production in the absence of the Lead Cook or Food and Beverage Director. Ensures all foods are handled in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards, complying with all federal, state, and local regulatory procedures regarding food production.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cook

Preparation and Food Service

  • Prepare and serve meals, maintain sanitation of food service areas, keep accurate records, receive, rotate, and inventory products, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Follow posted menus and prepare food items using approved Phoenix standardized recipes promptly.
  • Adhere to production sheets and instructions.
  • Prepare special dietary needs as directed.
  • Prepare texture-modified foods as directed.
  • Organize work to meet production and service requirements.
  • Monitor all food items to ensure minimum guidelines for temperature, taste, and quality are maintained at all times.
  • Taste and adjust food as necessary to ensure quality.
  • Maintain sanitary conditions to ensure safety and compliance with regulations; responsible for cleaning work areas.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
  • Maintain standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
  • Operate dish machines according to Food Safety Standards.
  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, china, silverware, glassware, utensils, and cookware as necessary.

Record Keeping/Resident Services

  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
  • Review Resident Diet Book, confidential Diet Board/Indicator, Data Card, or Chart.
  • Record and maintain measures for service standards and regulatory compliance, including:
  • Equipment temperatures
  • Refrigerator and freezer temperatures
  • Cooking, holding, and cooling temperatures of food
  • Food production quantities
  • Taste evaluation sheets

Rotate menus and production sheets regularly.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE-CERTIFICATION

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of job-related experience, including food preparation, full-line menu items, and therapeutic diets.
  • Maintain a current SERV Safe certificate (food service sanitation certificate) or be able to participate in sanitation training to become SERV Safe Certified.
