Job summary

Orwigsburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Orwigsburg, PA is seeking an experienced Cook to join our dietary team. The successful candidate will work 1st & 2nd shifts on a part-time or full-time basis, with every other weekend required.

Responsibilities include reviewing menus, preparing meals per planned menus, and ensuring accurate portions and therapeutic diets. Prior healthcare kitchen experience is preferred; training is available for the right person.

• Has prior line-cook experience.
• Healthcare setting experience preferred; training available for right candidates.

The most successful candidate for this position

• Has prior line-cook experience
• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)
• Employs great customer service skills and is always willing to go the extra mile
• Possesses good time management and the ability to multi-task

The responsibilities & duties

• Review menus prior to preparation of food
• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents
• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time
• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary
• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
