Job summary

Lancaster Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking an Assistant Cook to provide nutritious, quality meals for residents in Lancaster, PA. The role offers both part-time and full-time schedules with first and second shifts and every-other weekend requirements.

Candidates should have line-cook experience; healthcare setting experience is preferred but training will be provided for the right people. Strong customer service and time-management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Review menus prior to food preparation.
• Prepare meals according to planned menus and substitutions.
• Serve meals that are appetizing and properly plated.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets as per menu.
• Serve food according to portion control procedures.
• Inspect diet trays to ensure correct diets are served.
• Assist in establishing service production lines for timely meals.
• Take responsibility for tray line and assist on it as needed.
• Interpret department policies to residents, staff and visitors as needed.
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments.

Lancaster Nursing & Rehabilitation is a 446-bed long term care facility with a beautiful campus in Lancaster, PA is seeking to hire an Assistant Cookto provide nutritious, quality meals to the residents we care for.

Job Type:

Part Time/Full Time

Schedule:

1st & 2nd Shifts available

every other weekend required

The most successful candidate for this position

• Has prior line-cook experience
• Previously worked in a healthcare setting (preferred, but we will train the right people!)
• Employs great customer service skills and is always willing to go the extra mile
• Possesses good time management and the ability to multi-task

The responsibilities & duties:

• Review menus prior to preparation of food
• Prepare meals following planned menus and make only authorized food substitutes
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menu
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures
• Inspect special diet trays to assure that correct diet is served to residents
• Assist in establishing service production lines to assure that meals are prepared on time
• Assumes responsibility for tray line and serves on tray line as necessary
• Interpret department policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, family members, etc., as needed and appropriate
• Coordinate dietary service with other departments as necessary
