Summary:

The Cook prepares hot foods for our residents’ meals, daily specials, and special events. Determines the quantity of food items to prepare and ensures that temperatures, appearance, portion control, and quality are in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

  • Prepares bulk foods for cooking
  • Cooks food on commercial kitchen equipment, using processes such as baking, frying, sautéing, boiling, and grilling, following standardized recipes.
  • Assists with and prepares catering items regularly.
  • Determines the quantity of food items to prepare by following production sheets and menus.
  • Regularly cleans the production area and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensures that temperatures, appearance, portion control, and quality meet state and federal guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months’ related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with short-order cooking in a fast-paced environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food and food production, ability to cook in a commercial kitchen, knowledge of food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food service sanitation certification preferred.
