Job summary

Waneka Park is hiring a Cook to join our team and prepare nutritious meals for residents, following approved menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines. You will ensure safe dining experiences with accurate portioning and help maintain a clean, compliant kitchen.

The role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent), 1 year of cooking experience preferred, and ServSafe certification is preferred. Competitive pay, benefits, and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience as a Cook preferred.
• Healthcare/skilled nursing home experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm necessary ingredients and supplies
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and consistent with residents’ dietary needs
• Follow standardized recipes and substitutions only when authorized
• Serve food using proper portion control methods
• Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations
• Accurately estimate portions and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control food costs
• Adhere to state and county regulations regarding sanitation, food safety, storage, recordkeeping, and chemical handling
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher)
• Maintain organized, clean, and compliant cooler and freezer spaces
• Complete daily cleaning assignments to uphold sanitation standards
