Winfield Senior Living is hiring a part-time Cook to join our team in Winfield, KS. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals following approved menus, dietary guidelines, and safety standards to support our residents' well-being.

Responsibilities include timely meal service, portion control, ingredient planning, and sanitation across kitchen areas. Prior healthcare or nursing home experience is preferred, as is ServSafe certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of experience as a Cook preferred.
• Healthcare/skilled nursing home experience preferred.
• ServSafe certified preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain timely meal service and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Review daily menus and event calendars to confirm necessary ingredients and supplies.
• Prepare meals that are nutritious, visually appealing, and consistent with residents’ dietary needs.
• Follow standardized recipes and substitutions only when authorized.
• Serve food using proper portion control methods.
• Assist with preparing special meals for events and celebrations.
• Accurately estimate portions and manage leftovers to minimize waste and control food costs.
• Adhere to state and county regulations regarding sanitation, food safety, storage, recordkeeping, and chemical handling.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., steamer, oven, grill, meat slicer, mixer, grinder, dishwasher).
• Maintain organized, clean, and compliant cooler and freezer spaces.
• Complete daily cleaning assignments to uphold sanitation standards.
