The Salvation Army in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated Cook to prepare and serve meals for homeless guests. Overview
The Salvation Army’s Cambridge is hiring a Cook (2) and offers the following benefit package to part-time employees:
Location: Cambridge, MA
Pay Range: $20 per hour
21 hours per week (3 days)
Cook A – 8:30am – 4:00pm (30 minute unpaid break)
Cook B – 8:30am – 4:00pm (30 minute unpaid break)
The cook will prepare and serve meals to homeless guests as scheduled by the Operations Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 1 year experience working in a kitchen
· Experience in meal preparation for at least 35 persons
· Interest and ability to work with diverse population - guests, volunteers, etc.
· ServeSafe certified
Duties & Responsibilities:
a) Prepare daily meals according to planned menu with flexibility to creatively utilize food donations.
b) Maintain clean and orderly kitchen in accordance with Department of Health regulations.
c) Work with the Operations Director in menu planning and relay supply and purchasing needs.
d) Foster cooperative atmosphere in the kitchen working with staff, volunteers and guests who will be assisting with preparation and clean up responsibilities.
e) Meet regularly with the Operations Director for supervision as it relates to shelter and personnel issues.
f) Provide substitute hours for other feeding programs as deemed necessary by the Operations Director.
g) Pick up from the Greater Boston Food Bank twice a month, and other donors, as needed.
h) Perform other related duties as assigned
