Job summary

Summa Health System is seeking a dedicated hospital food service cook for the Barberton campus. The role involves preparing, cooking, plating and serving meals for patients and other customers in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The successful candidate will have at least one year of cooking experience, the ability to follow instructions, and knowledge of food safety regulations. This is a full-time float position across shifts, offering competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematical functions and prioritize tasks
• One (1) year of cooking and food preparation experience
• Ability to be active and on feet most of the day, lift, push and pull medium weight objects; occasionally push and pull heavy weight objects
• Knowledge of local, state and federal food handling regulations
• Ability to provide necessary care for patients across age groups as required

Summary

Performs various hospital food service duties related to preparation and cooking (e.g. prepares, cooks, plates and/or serves food in bulk or individual portions) for patients and other customers following standard practices.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
• Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, perform basic mathematical functions and prioritize tasks
• Experience and Training Required:
• One (1) year of cooking and food preparation experience
• Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
• Ability to be active and on feet most of the day, lift, push and pull medium weight objects; occasionally push and pull heavy weight objects
• Ability to withstand hot and/or humid, cold and/or icy temperatures due to heat and cold producing equipment
• Ability to prepare and assemble food
• Must possess knowledge of and be in compliance with local, state and federal food handling regulations
• Ability to provide necessary care for patients (i.e. neonate/newborns, children, adolescents, young adults, middle age adults, geriatric adults) as required by position
• Population Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
• Level of Physical Demands:
• Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.

Pay

$17.54/hr - $23.85/hr

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers. Please keep in mind that the range that is listed is the full base salary range. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical.
