Job summary

ALSO is a Silicon Valley EV startup building affordable, highly efficient small EVs. We seek a Software Engineer in Test, Controls to own test strategies across software, hardware, and simulation, including CI/CD pipelines and test frameworks.

You will validate embedded systems and propulsion modules, conduct root-cause analysis, and work with mechanisms for MIL/SIL/HIL testing. You will read Simulink/Stateflow models and generated C code, build automation, and collaborate across software and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in EE, CE, CS, or related engineering field.
• 5+ years in embedded/automotive test engineering or dev infra roles.
• Ability to read Simulink models, Stateflow charts, and C code.
• Strong experience with MIL/SIL/HIL/vehicle testing.
• Hands-on experience architecting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, or similar).
• Test automation and scripting expertise (MATLAB, Python, CAPL, Shell).
• Experience with vehicle CAN networks, plus LIN and UDS.
• Experience debugging, telemetry analysis, and issue triage.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define test strategies and architectures for new features and systems.
• Translate requirements into test plans, test cases, and automation scripts.
• Read Simulink models and generated C code to design tests.
• Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelines for controls software.
• Support toolchains to generate and deploy Simulink/MATLAB code across targets.
• Build and maintain test automation frameworks (Python, MATLAB/Simulink, CAPL).
• Execute MIL/SIL/HIL testing; analyze logs, telemetry, and CAN data.
• Provide dev infra support to unblock engineers on tooling and tests.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, systems, and vehicle teams to resolve issues.
