Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates in the southwest suburban Atlanta area is looking for a seasoned Controls Technician to join day shift. You will build PLC panels, program and bring systems online, and support integration of automated equipment across production lines.

You will work closely with engineers and the production team to troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade controls, sensors, and drive systems, while adhering to safety standards. OT is available; benefits and 401K are offered.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of related experience.
• PLC programming with confidence in using context clues within the PLC program.
• Comfortable with programming a machine process from scratch.
• Comfortable with wiring a 9-lead motor and stress testing windings.
• Identify critical info from a motor's data plate for specing or programming components such as contactors, soft starters, and VFDs.
• Familiarity with sensors: PNP, NPN, loop-powered, and dry contact.
• Analog control: 4-20mA and 0-10V signals.
• Ladder logic troubleshooting.
• Panel building.
• Electrical experience.
• Some robotic experience.
• Safety circuit integration.
• Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the USA without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Operating the equipment or overseeing the operation of equipment.
• Analyzing and categorizing events within the equipment.
• Working closely with engineers and production team to help achieve a desired output.
• Conducting preventative maintenance, such as routine upgrades and inspections.
• Repairing machine controls, systems, and tools as needed.
• Disassembling (or re-assembling) equipment to repair or replace defective parts.
• Training others to install, use, and service equipment.
