Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Controls Technician for the 2nd shift in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation to support production equipment.

The position requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent, with a minimum of two years in a related field. PLC/HMI knowledge, schematic reading, and disciplined maintenance practices are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years on-the-job experience in a related field or a 2-year technical degree.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Proficient in using maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic mechanical and fabrication tasks and PMs on equipment.
• Understand and integrate fluid power concepts into machines.
• Troubleshoot effectively using standard measurement tools.
• Have working knowledge of PLC, HMI, and variable speed drive programming and installation.
• Maintain and develop documentation for equipment and procedures.

Job description

Quanex is looking for aControls Technician - 2nd Shift to join our team located inRice Lake, WI.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm| Overtime needs vary daily during the busy season.

The hourly range for this position begins at $28/hr (this is including a $3/hr shift differential) with opportunity for pay increase on an annual basis.

What Success Looks Like:

• Basic mechanical and fabrication skills with the ability to complete basic PMs
• Understands fluid power basics and can integrate them into machines
• Ability to troubleshoot effectively and uses correct measurement tools to identify problems
• Has basic knowledge of industrial controls and wiring practices
• Has understanding of PLC, HMI, and variable speed drive programming and installation
• Is meticulous in maintaining existing documentation and developing new documents as needed
• Can perform basic fabrication and maintenance with instruction
