Job summary

Quanex is seeking a Controls Technician for the 1st shift in Rice Lake, WI. The role focuses on basic mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation tasks to ensure smooth production operations.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of related experience or a 2-year technical degree, with familiarity in PLC/HMI systems and fluid power basics. Excellent documentation habits and safety awareness are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience in a related field or a 2-year technical degree.
• Strong reading of technical manuals and schematics.
• Proficient in using maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventive maintenance and PMs on machinery.
• Troubleshoot industrial machines and identify problems using measurement tools.
• Understand and apply basic fluid power, controls, wiring practices.
• Read and interpret PLC, HMI, and VSD related documentation.
• Maintain and develop production documentation as needed.

Schedule:Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm| Overtime needs vary daily during the busy season.

The hourly range for this position begins at $25/hr withopportunity for pay increase on an annual basis.

What Success Looks Like:

• Basic mechanical and fabrication skills with the ability to complete basic PMs
• Understands fluid power basics and can integrate them into machines
• Ability to troubleshoot effectively and uses correct measurement tools to identify problems
• Has basic knowledge of industrial controls and wiring practices
• Has understanding of PLC, HMI, and variable speed drive programming and installation
• Is meticulous in maintaining existing documentation and developing new documents as needed
• Can perform basic fabrication and maintenance with instruction
