Job summary

Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is recruiting a Controls Project Engineer in Michigan to support the design, development, and commissioning of automated process systems.

You will work on PLC programming, control panel engineering, and HMI/SCADA development as part of a project team. The role requires hands-on controls experience, attention to detail, and the ability to move projects from design through startup, with travel up to 25–30% to customer sites and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with at least 3 years of related controls experience.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation or Siemens PLC platforms, incl. Studio 5000, Logix500.
• Experience with control panel design, electrical schematics, instrumentation.
• Working knowledge of HMI/SCADA platforms such as FactoryTalk View or Ignition.
• Ability to read P&IDs, project specs, and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to travel approximately 30% to customer and project sites.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and test PLC programs using Rockwell Automation platforms.
• Interpret project specifications, P&IDs, and control requirements to support system design.
• Develop control narratives, functional descriptions, loop drawings, and related engineering documentation.
• Configure HMI/SCADA applications for system operation, diagnostics, and operator interface.
• Design control panel schematics, enclosure layouts, and related electrical documentation.
• Prepare panel layouts, load calculations, bills of materials, and project submittal packages.
• Coordinate with project management, drafting, manufacturing, purchasing, and field service teams.
• Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, startup, debugging, and customer training.
• Manage engineering deliverables across multiple projects while maintaining quality, accuracy, and schedule.
