As a Controls Logic Engineer, you will take ownership of the design, programming, and ongoing support for CNC and PLC-driven control systems utilized in large-scale machinery. Your daily work will involve hands-on engagement with Siemens, Beckhoff, and Fanuc platforms, guiding control logic from initial conceptualization to final commissioning. This position encompasses system integration, rigorous debugging, and field-based support, providing you with deep exposure to intricate automation and advanced manufacturing landscapes. You will partner closely with engineering teams to deliver high-performance, custom-engineered solutions for clients worldwide.

Core Duties
- Create, refine, and troubleshoot control software for PLC and CNC-based machinery.
- Manage and update software across diverse control environments, specifically Siemens, Beckhoff, and Fanuc.
- Synchronize control logic with motion systems, electrical components, sensors, and actuators.
- Execute validation testing and simulations to help maximize overall system efficiency.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation, including user guides and interface specifications.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning process to ensure successful system deployment at client locations.
- Identify and rectify software or hardware malfunctions in both field and lab settings.
- Partner with multidisciplinary engineering groups to foster the delivery of superior control solutions.
- Help maintain a safe, high-quality, and high-performance operating environment for all systems.
- Participate in ongoing process improvements to boost engineering and production outcomes.
- Help meet critical project milestones and delivery schedules within a demanding manufacturing setting.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven proficiency in PLC programming using platforms like Fanuc, Siemens, or Beckhoff.
- Solid mathematical background, including 3D geometry, vectors, and transformations.
- Competency in interpreting and utilizing electrical schematics.
- Demonstrated history of HMI integration and development.
- Comprehensive understanding of the product development lifecycle, from initial design to post-sale support.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to address technical challenges.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in automation or controls engineering.
- Flexibility to travel as needed for onsite commissioning and technical support.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with SQL and database management systems.
- Familiarity with KUKA or ABB robotic platforms.
- Exposure to Industry 4.0 and IIoT technologies.
- Knowledge regarding precision measurement tools and laser scanners.
- Familiarity with risk assessments and safety standards like SIL.
- Experience with multi-threaded software development.
- Proficiency or exposure to languages such as Python, C, C++, or C#.
- Experience with composite systems, additive manufacturing, or large-scale machine tools.
- Familiarity with heavy industrial, defense, or aerospace manufacturing protocols.
- Ability to resolve complex electromechanical issues under strict deadlines.
Compensation and Location
- Based in Rockford, IL
- Annual salary ranging from $70,000 to $103,000, plus a $200 daily per diem during travel periods.
