Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Columbus, Indiana, seeks an experienced Controls Engineer specializing in Rockwell Automation design, motion, ladder logic, and safety programming. Proficiency in Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio, plus familiarity with Rockwell PLC/HMI environments and PLC hardware concepts, is required.

Candidates will collaborate with plant teams to develop and support PLC-based systems, assist with MES programming, and mentor junior engineers while driving equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent.
• Rockwell ControlLogix design experience including motion, ladder logic, and safety programming.
• Proficiency in Rockwell PLC/HMI programming and Studio 5000/FactoryTalk View Studio.
• Understanding of PLC hardware and communication protocols; machine safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Develops and designs control systems; conducts bench tests; modifies software to ensure sensors and actuators meet specifications.
• Installs and provides technical support for PLC hardware and software; mentors less experienced engineers.
• Support control activities for plant transformations in assembly or machining areas; collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
• Drive programming standards; coordinate with equipment suppliers on architecture, hardware, and documentation.

• Rockwell Automation ControlLogix system design experience, including motion, ladder logic, and safety programming experience.
• Siemens Step 7 or other PLC version experience is desired.
• Function block and structured text programming is desired but not required.
• Must be proficient in Rockwell Software PLC Programming, Studio 5000.
• Must be proficient in Rockwell Software HMI Programming, FactoryTalk View Studio.
• Must understand PLC Hardware and Communication Protocols.
• Machine Safety Systems
• Knowledge of following would be preferred:
• Vision Systems: Cognex, Keyence and Coherix
• Fanuc PMC ladder in CNC equipment
• Develops and designs control systems; develops and implements bench tests; alters software and equipment to ensure that sensors and actuators are functioning according to specifications; supports and debugs complex problems and change requests.
• Responsible for the installation and technical support of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based hardware and software. Coaches and mentors are less experienced Controls Engineers
• Support Control activities for RMEP, CEP and CMEP Plant transformation in the Assembly, and or Machining areas as needed. This will include:

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year
