Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Whitakers, NC seeks a Control Systems Engineer to design and optimize Rockwell PLC-based solutions, including motion and safety programming. Proficiency with Studio 5000 and HMI tools is essential, with favorable knowledge of Siemens Step 7 and Cognex/Keyence vision systems.

The role covers installation, technical support, and mentoring of junior engineers, plus collaboration with a cross-functional team to transform assembly/machining processes.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develops and designs control systems and bench tests; modifies software and equipment to meet specs.

• Collaborates with plant engineers to improve processes and equipment; supports production as needed.

• Rockwell Automation ControlLogix system design experience, including motion, ladder logic, and safety programming experience.
• Siemens Step 7 or other PLC version experience is desired.
• Function block and structured text programming is desired but not required.
• Must be proficient in Rockwell Software PLC Programming, Studio 5000.
• Must be proficient in Rockwell Software HMI Programming, FactoryTalk View Studio.
• Must understand PLC Hardware and Communication Protocols.
• Machine Safety Systems
• Knowledge of following would be preferred:
• Vision Systems: Cognex, Keyence and Coherix
• Fanuc PMC ladder in CNC equipment
• Develops and designs control systems; develops and implements bench tests; alters software and equipment to ensure that sensors and actuators are functioning according to specifications; supports and debugs complex problems and change requests.
• Responsible for the installation and technical support of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based hardware and software. Coaches and mentors are less experienced Controls Engineers
• Support Control activities for RMEP, CEP and CMEP Plant transformation in the Assembly, and or Machining areas as needed. This will include:
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines in the plant to develop and improve processes and equipment in the plant.
• Work with equipment suppliers and drive programming, network, architecture, hardware and documentation standards for new equipment.
• PLC, HMI and MES Programming Changes
• Production support as needed.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year
