Amentum Advanced Solutions is seeking a Controls & Instrumentation Engineer Intern for 2027 to support projects from small studies to turnkey systems. You will work under senior engineers to develop wiring diagrams, write PLC/HMI software, and interface with facility equipment in a dynamic environment.

The intern will apply control theory, programming in C/C++/C#, and use LabVIEW, MATLAB, and SIMULINK to design, test, and validate control systems while learning diverse engineering disciplines in

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 0-5 years of experience in control or data acquisition system design, implementation, or commissioning.
• Interest in software development with languages such as C/C++/C# and tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, SIMULINK.
• Background in electronics, instrumentation, control and data acquisition systems, PLCs, VFDs, motion control, sensors, actuators, PID, and networks.
• Strong math background for data uncertainty, digital filters, control transfer, and process simulation.

Responsibilities

• Developing hardware assemblies and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.
• Implementing control system software for temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, motion, safety, and related systems.
• Developing control software in PLC ladder logic, function blocks, and HMIs.
• Creating interfaces to facility equipment using hardwired interfaces and industrial networks.
• Applying closed-loop control methods to continuous variable systems.
• Supporting hardware assembly and fabrication.
