Job summary

Rolls-Royce plc is seeking a Mechanical Control Units Design Engineer in Indianapolis, IN. You will develop hardware requirements for control units and oversee supplier design work through gated reviews, spanning from concept to production release.

Ideal candidates have a Mechanical/Aerospace engineering background with 1+ year experience in mechanical design or controls, and you must be able to obtain/maintain US security clearance. Relocation is available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1+ year of mechanical design or control systems experience
  • US Citizenship required to obtain and maintain security clearance
  • Experience with control systems hardware design and NPI/change management/risk processes
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge of RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards
  • Current or able to obtain US DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop control system hardware requirements and guide suppliers through design process
  • Coordinate design activities across design, purchasing and manufacturing teams
  • Identify and manage technical, cost, supply chain and schedule risks
  • Address technical and manufacturing issues to enable quick decision making
